Care Instructions:

• Choose a spot that gets 6 plus hours of sunshine each day – the dark leaves love the sun!
• Dig hole 2 times width of pot. Set top of root ball even with ground level.
• Combine organic-rich planting mix and garden soil. Fill to ground level and tamp down firmly.
• Water to settle soil. Add layer of mulch to retain moisture and discourage weeds.
• Water regularly for the first year, then as needed once established.
• Your plant won’t need a lot of fertilizer, but it will benefit from an organic all-purpose fertilizer in the spring when the leaves start to sprout. A fertilizer with a higher middle number (e.g. 15-30-15 or 5-10-5) will work best.
• In spring, after the threat of frost is over, give your Weigela a trim. You’ll want to at least trim off all the seed pods from last year’s flowers. This will encourage healthy and fresh new growth and flowers. If you don’t like the overall form at this time, you may shape it how you wish.
• Encourage rebloom by giving a light trim after the first flowers are done.
